I really enjoyed the video resource that Madisoncartr shared for our group’s Interactive Learning Resource (found here). It was engaging, provided easy to understand analogies, and provided the viewer with a fundamental understanding as to what ChatGPT is and how it works. Although there is no direct interaction required from learners there are prompts, by the host, for learners to look definitions and sources up themselves and to find new or “better” ways of explaining certain topics.
Madisoncartr’s design activity, “where students are asked to create a short presentation or write a reflective essay on the implications and usage of ChatGPT in a specific field or industry of their interest” creates an authentic learning experience by allowing students to connect what they just learned to real-world situations. It involves learners to engage in critical thinking, researching and communication skills. This is an activity that is directed toward our current learner base (University students) and would prove to be effective in their learning. However, I feel this activity and resource can additionally be adapted to younger audiences who have an interest in technology. I could also see it being done either individually or in a group setting.
Overall, I found this resource and outlined activity very engaging as a beginner to ChatGPT and would be happy to take part in it.
